According to the Google trends, there has been a spike in the number of searches containing SEO since the start of 2020, so we thought that it would be the perfect time to explain what to expect from your SEO marketing.

SEO is a long term investment

As humans, we’re often programmed with a get rich quick mentality, which is shown throughout all aspects of our life. It isn’t our fault, it’s how marketing has progressed over the last decade to try and convince the people that it’s possible to achieve something great with the least possible required input. A great example would be, “get a six-pack in 4 weeks with this new fitness regime’, which all realistic people know is a massively false claim. In actual fact, the time taken for a person to achieve a six-pack would vary from person to person and depend on multiple variables such as the commitment, body type, consistency and frequency of exercise. This same logic can be applied to SEO, in that as a by-product of consistent, frequent hard work you’ll get successful results although they will vary from business to business and niche to niche.

if you approach your business’ SEO with the longer-term mindset, you won’t be disappointed as you won’t be looking for instant gratification. SEO is an investment, that we as business owners are extremely bullish on.

Once you’ve reached the highly regarded number one spot for your target keywords and search terms, the work has only just really started. You have to be on the ball to maintain your position as the most relevant and high-quality source of information for those search terms. Something that your business might want to consider once your business is optimised for basic search terms, is to start getting more advanced with your SEO strategy, targeting much more niche terms.

How does SEO work in relation to time?

Despite the fact that we as an agency know better than to put a time limit on SEO, we know that as a business owner it’s imperative to find out what the averages are for ranking your website in the SERPs (search engine results page). We would say that generally, a website can take 6-10 months to start ranking, but as we mentioned previously its complete dependant on variables such as niche, types of content, markets and competition. It’s also heavily dependant on Google’s future algorithm changes, as to how they will rank websites in the future though it looks increasingly more likely that it will be on length and relevance.

Search is the number one provider of traffic to websites, many people favourite paid search over SEO, but statistics show that search engines bring in the highest % of traffic.

  • Meta Descriptions/ Keywords don’t matter anymore

Contrary to popular belief, Google’s search algorithm no longer holds significance to the meta descriptions and meta keywords, so stop investing so much time into them!

  • Quality + Quantity = Foolproof SEO

Nor quality or quantity alone is enough for the best SEO to combine the two.
