Meet the Welford Team – Steven

As part of our Meet the Team series, we want to give our clients a chance to get to know our team both in and out of the office. You’ve met Abby, our Operations Manager, so now get to know Steven, one of our talented web developers who has been with Welford for almost a decade!

How long have you worked at Welford?

I've worked here for 9 and a bit years.

Favourite part of the job:

My favourite part of the job is seeing lots of people use and benefit from the code that I've written.

Favourite project you’ve worked on?

The best project I've worked on involved an ambitious vision from the client who worked closely with our whole team over several phases to create an OpenCart website which we were all proud of.

How did you get into this industry/role?

I've always liked coding, ever since I started with Turbo Pascal, Visual Basic and Java. Later I realised that open source eCommerce was the most exciting area and Welford Media was and continues to be one of the best companies in this field.

What software or tool could you not live without?

I think we're lucky as developers to have lots of software and tools available. As to which website, I couldn't manage without Stack Overflow, as well as Google for searching it and other websites so effectively.

What would be your ideal day off? My ideal day off would be a trip to the seaside with friends or family on a warm day, followed by an obligatory drink or two.

What’s your favourite film? My favourite film is Clash of the Titans (1981), partly because I used to watch it a lot with my Dad when I was young.

What is a random fact you know? Candy floss was invented by a dentist.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? If I could go anywhere, I would travel into space so that I can look back at our planet as a very small, distant object.

Do you have a party trick? No. I didn't even learn how to click my fingers until recently!

Cats or dogs? I prefer dogs because they're more affectionate, can accompany you to places and they don't venture into random people's gardens.
